These benefits are particularly vital for individuals with disabilities who face unique emotional challenges. The NDIS aims to ensure equal access to support for all individuals, fostering mental well-being, personal growth, and emotional healing.

Benefits of Counselling

Counselling is a valuable tool in enhancing personal capacity and guiding individuals through life transition goals. Counsellors are flexible and can adapt to individual needs, providing support in time management, goal setting, job seeking, and planning. They can help individuals refine their social skills, learn about different perspectives, and address planning, time management, and memory issues. Unlike other support options available through a NDIS plan, counselling offers additional guidance in areas where individuals may feel overwhelmed or have problems. By incorporating counselling into your NDIS plan, you can build a manageable system for personal growth.

What could I talk about in a session?

Counselling is a valuable service that provides tailored therapeutic support to help individuals work through various issues without fear of judgement. Topics covered include parenting, gender identity, general life advice, grief, stress, relationship issues, work and career issues, addiction, abuse, trauma, and self-esteem difficulties. Counsellors can support concerns, personal recovery goals, and improve wellbeing in various ways. No issue is too big or small, and they can also develop relationships with other providers, schools/workplaces, family, and friends to ensure a strong support network. No issue is too big or small for counselling.

Getting Started

To access counselling services under the NDIS, you must include the item ‘Improved Daily Living’ in your plan. Funds allow access to allied health professionals and are flexible across other therapeutic services. You can use some or all of these funds for counselling if it benefits you and your short-term goals. There are nine other line items under Capacity Building funds, each working with other services for seamless support access.

We support Planned and Self-Managed NDIS Counselling at Voices of Hope

Even though we support both planned and self-managed NDIS Counselling services, it’s important to understand the difference between the two to ensure you have the best option for your circumstance.

Self Management

Self-management and planning are crucial in optimising NDIS counselling support, empowering individuals with personalised counselling. By taking control of your funded supports, individuals can customise your care pathways for improved well-being.

The NDIS aims to enhance quality of life by focusing on personal needs, including mental wellness. Counselling under the NDIS provides a safe space for emotional expression and growth, addressing issues such as anxiety and depression. This empowerment through self-managed counselling support promotes individual growth and mental well-being, cultivating a more fulfilling support experience.

Plan Managed

Managing your NDIS plan involves a structured approach to overseeing the financial aspects of your support funding.

When you choose Plan Management, you have the flexibility to select service providers that are not registered with NDIS, aligning with the objectives of your plan. This gives you the power to have control over your care arrangements based on your specific needs.

Additionally, Plan Management provides transparency by giving you monthly statements that detail processed transactions, plan balances, and a breakdown of your budget. As your Plan Manager, we handle tasks such as receiving invoices, claiming payments through the NDIS portal, paying bills, and providing you with detailed monthly expenditure reports.

What does a NDIS Plan Manager do?

A Plan Manager plays a crucial role in facilitating efficient financial management for individuals under the NDIS. They ensure financial freedom and effective budgeting by:

  • directly receiving invoices from providers or participants
  • claiming payments through the NDIS portal, paying invoices
  • providing monthly statements with expenditure summaries and budget breakdowns

This comprehensive support enables you to have a clear overview of your funds, empowering you to make informed decisions about your supports and services. Moreover, a Plan Manager takes care of all the administrative tasks related to financial transactions, alleviating the burden on participants and allowing you to focus on your well-being and goals.

By offering effective invoice tracking and financial guidance, a Plan Manager contributes to promoting independence and ensuring that you can fully maximise the benefits of your funding while maintaining control over your support arrangements.

Advantages of NDIS Plan Management

Engaging a Plan Manager in the NDIS framework offers individuals access to a wider range of support services while maintaining control over their delivery.

Plan management provides financial freedom by allowing access to non-NDIS registered providers without affecting existing services. This option incurs setup costs and monthly fees as outlined in the NDIS Price Guide.

By having a plan manager, stress reduction is achieved through delegated fund claiming and provider payments. Personal empowerment is promoted as you retain autonomy in choosing how and when you receive your supports.

This empowerment enables you to customise your care, enhancing overall well-being. The support from a Plan Manager streamlines administrative aspects and empowers you to make informed decisions about your support services, leading to a more fulfilling and self-directed support experience.
